My WordPress.com Blog Disappears and Frustration

I started my first wordpress.com blog – this wordpress.com blog – in 2008, and have used alot of photos, videos, pics, and slides in my blogposts. I’ve went through several computers since I started this blog, so some of my photos were stored nowhere else but right here in MY administration account! Yea, I know, dumb move but hey, we all make them.
Although wordpress does have alot of features and functionality that a blogger wants, it also has its limitations. I mean, geesh, you can’t put ANY html in sidebars, bottom bars, or any other bars! Not in wordpress.COM anyway. I would love to be able to put a line or 2 of code in a sidebar widget, but nope, not in the wordpress.COM version, but IF you want more functionality with your blog, use wordpress.org and a hosting acct through the best, and get  $1.99 Web Hosting Per Month!

But back to my original intent of this post………..
I haven’t posted in either of my blogs in awhile, or went to my facebook acct or my main twitter account. Just didn’t want to, you see………….
A couple of weeks ago I logged into my wordpress.com acct and found that my blog was GONE! THIS BLOG JUST DISAPPEARED!  In my dashboard were the words…..” MountainHigh.wordpress.com no longer exists”   But….. But…..Bull!…But…..WHY?? Lemme tell you I paniced! This blog was the second ‘thing’ that was ‘mine'(???) my thoughts, opinions, pics etc, that I did online! I was a total newbie to it all when I started this blog. But I could not figure out WHY! Then it hit me- all my old photos, a couple videos stored nowhere but here, and a deep rooted, disappointed, sick of it all – feeling started creeping into my heart. Yes it was my fault for not storing my stuff and stories somewhere else… but I didn’t. Maybe I should have stored a copy of my entire blog somewhere! hmmmmf! no, I didn’t!

But WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS WORDPRESS???

So I typed them an email and asked them WHY. About 36 – 48 hours later I received a response. “It was a system error and the ‘system’ should not have done that” and then, POOF! my blog was restored just as quickly, and easily, as it had been taken down, with all content! The support guy apologized and offered “if theres anything we can do” yada yada line. Shoot, IF they wanted to do something, give me a FREE UPGRADE of some type- LIKE A NO AD UPGRADE! hmmmf why ask?
I didn’t quickly get over the fact that all my work – even posts and ads for my first website- MyFountainDesigns – was gone, as quickly as it disappearred, or restored.
I didn’t have my content copied elsewhere, but I do now.
I’m getting back into a few of the things I do when logged into the world wide web, but with a renewed sense of ‘but…. what if? but……what about?
I guess a lesson was learned, maybe you can learn from it too.

Hay Season and Vietnam Veterans

It is now August and I’m wondering if this years hay season will ever end! Of course I know it will- it will be winter before we have time to think about it much! But I have about had my fill of hay this year!
Larry has a wonderful friend named Payne, that brings his Hay Teter to the hay fields, and teters the hay before it is raked. If you teter the hay, it dries out alot quicker so you can get it baled and off the field so it can start growing for the next cut!
I support U.S. TROOPS AND VETERANS 100% and always have. I feel closer to those that served in VIETNAM, maybe because I know quite a few of the heros from that war, that was never officially a war [whatever, hmm. Just another government flaw??] and when opportunity arises, I seize it…. soooo….
While doing a google search to make sure I had the spelling correct for ‘teter’, I came across this post from VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA post 172, and this post of mine seemed like a good place to slip in a SUPPORT OUR VETERANS message.

I’ll stick with NIKON COOLPIX

Well so much for a SANYO digital camera! Don’t ever make the mistake I did- that is replacing a NIKON COOLPIX with any SANYO camera!
Being used to the ease and great pics and vids I get with a Nikon, the Sanyo that I replaced my lost Nikon with was a BIG disappointment! I returned it today and they had a Nikon Coolpix in stock [a walmart electronics dept would be a great place to sell and STOCK digital cameras, don’t you think?]

For the Love of Danny

I grew up in a small family of 3 kids. I was the youngest of the three, with my brother being the middle child. Danny passed away at the much too young age of 50 years, 19 days.

I miss you Danny, so much. The pain never goes away, but seems to get deeper, until it creeps up on me and hits me all at once. It’s then that I crash

My Heros, beloved father and brother

I grew up in small family with one sister – 6 years older than me, and one brother who was 3 years older than me. I was always a daddys girl and was with my dad no matter what he was doing. Later, as I was nearing my teens, I always said I wanted to be just like my brother Danny. Much to our mothers chagrin, I came very close to doing just that, and wouldn’t have changed any of it.
